Legacy Gifts

Legacy Gifts

Planned or legacy gifts can be a tax-efficient and impactful way to support DVO. Here’s a basic definition for each type of gift:

  • Planned gifts: any charitable contribution planned now to be made at a later point in time.
  • Legacy gifts: donations granted specifically after the donor has passed away.

Legacy gifts are often included in a planned giving strategy. You can name DVO as a beneficiary in many types of planned or legacy giving methods. We provide a few examples here:

Wills and Living Trusts By specifying DVO in your will or living trust, you are making a lasting legacy for good. Also, this type of gift has potential estate tax benefits.
Real Estate or Property You make an impactful contribution when you transfer ownership of an asset to DVO. May have potential tax benefits.
Bequests, Retirement Accounts, Life Insurance Policies, or Charitable Remainder Trusts Making DVO part of your estate plan, you can provide significant long-term support. You may gain potential tax benefits and estate planning advantages

You should consult with a financial advisor and/or attorneys for advice on your individual situation before making any legacy or planned giving decisions.
