About Us

Domestic Violence Outreach (DVO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to end domestic and intimate partner violence through our three core pillars: Awareness • Services • Prevention. Founded in 2008 by Father Charles Dahm, O.P., DVO began as a parish-based ministry in the Archdiocese of Chicago and has since expanded to reach more than 180 faith communities and help establish over 100 parish-based domestic violence ministries.

Today, DVO partners with churches, schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to raise awareness, connect victims and survivors with support services, and promote healthy relationships through prevention education.

A major focus of DVO’s work is HeaRT, an evidence-based healthy relationships program developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for students in grades 6–8. Implemented in schools throughout the Chicago area, HeaRT helps young people recognize healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors before harmful patterns take hold, equipping them with skills that promote safer and healthier futures.

Through collaboration, education, outreach, and advocacy, DVO works to create lasting social change and build healthier, safer communities for all.
