PreventionDeveloped by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Dating Matters curriculum helps young people understand healthy relationships and avoid abusive ones. Since 2020, DVO has provided training and materials for schools to implement this program. |
AwarenessDomestic violence is prevalent in all communities, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, economic status, or sexual orientation. DVO raises awareness of this epidemic and helps victims break their silence and free themselves from abuse. |
ServicesDVO connects victims and their families to needed services within their local community or nationally. Whether they need counseling, shelter, legal or financial assistance, it is central to our mission to help them find the resources they need. |

Announcing Great News!In late August, we received confirmation that the IRS granted our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit status to Domestic Violence Outreach (DVO).
What does this status mean? • A 501(c)(3) is a nonprofit organization that has been recognized by the IRS as exempt from federal income tax because it operates exclusively for charitable, educational, religious or other public purposes. • Donations made to 501(c)(3) organizations are tax-deductible for the donor. So, if you donated via check or online to DVO this year, your donation can count as tax-deductible. Furthermore, the IRS informed us that the status applies to any donations made to DVO since April 2024. This is our date of filing as an independent nonprofit organization with the state of Illinois. You can reference the DVO tax ID number EIN: 99-3063519 as needed in your tax filing. Thank you all so much for your generous support of our growing organization. Our work is needed now, perhaps more than ever and we are moving forward! |

The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) & Trends Report: 2013-2023, August 2024 & Trends Report: 2013–2023 provides the most recent surveillance data, as well as 10-year trends and 2-year changes in health behaviors and experiences of high school students in the United States. The report focuses on adolescents’ sexual behavior, substance use, experiences of violence, mental health, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. It also includes data on topics, such as social media use and reported experiences of racism in school, that are important for understanding and improving young people’s health and well-being. (PDF)
